Hi to all members,
Just a quick follow up from Josh’s email yesterday regarding the course. As you could imagine the course is getting an intense bashing from all this weather. Some of these figures that we are recording have never been seen before here or other courses throughout the city and we are finding it tough. Like Josh said yesterday we are now past the total rainfall we had in the entire year last year; leaving us with conditions that I have never had to deal with in my 23 years of greenkeeping. From tee to green and fairways to rough there has been minimal work carried out to preserve as much as we can out there. Having these closures are no different and your safety is always considered.
In saying all that we are out today strategically trying to get around and mow the greens to open for some play tomorrow before this bad weather hits again. Tomorrow and Thursday’s forecast is looking more settled, and we are planning to have it open for carry bags only. Please understand that this could change if more rain was to come in. All going to plan we will see some golf tomorrow. Please take extreme care out there and play with an open mind - conditions aren’t the best out there and is far from ideal for all involved; work or play, no course in Auckland is right now.
We are dealing with some testing times and everyone’s understanding is appreciated. I would like to thank all the members that have sent messages of support during this time and again I can assure you all we are doing everything possible for the better of the course and the members that play on it.
Regards
Daniel Godek
