Seasons Greetings,

I hope everyone's had a good few months since the last publication. I have been busy with personal things, especially with family.

In the upcoming festive seasons, please do not forget to cherish your loved ones and provide them as much support as you can, as we are all here to grace the earth once in our lifetime.

As the selection of the new Club Officers from our Annual General Meeting on 2nd of November for those who missed it, the Redwood Cut will now take on a different viewpoint, now to show what is going on in our club, showcasing our tournaments in the calendar, member's achievements in golf and out of golf, various golf related news and articles.

With that said, let's continue with this issue,

Plesae stay safe during the festive seasons and happy golfing!

MANOR PARK GOLF CLUB

The Manor Park Golf Club has a history tracing back to 1913. There is a brilliant picture on the website with the original members, all in hats of the era. The club prides itself on being an equal opportunity club, as one of the first golf clubs in NZ to go gender-free tees. Not men’s and ladies, but short and long with unique colour choices including terracotta (our white) tees.

They're a club where they strive to create wildlife happy, environment friendly golf club, becoming an afiliated sanctuary. The programme they run is an on-going and continuous process involving management and enhancement of wildlife habitat, water resource management, reduction in water and cheical use, a commitment to recycling of waste and a plan to involve the community and the club’s membership in these activities and initiatives.

The history of the club shows they have an eco and social conscious.

They, unfortunately, don’t show the same compassion for the golfers, as they present a course that has many difficulties. A skinny course that is easy flat walking, but never gives an inch, as one of the Wellington's finest Championship courses.

A par 71 at just over 6,000 metres off the back tees, be patient and enjoy the golfing sanctuary.

Home of Michael Campbell, home of many great names of our professionals, including Steven Scahill, Bradley Iles and Mal Tongue.

They were also home of New Zealand Golf and New Zealand Golf Elite Titleist Academy in the early 2000s, to create the finest players like, Danny Lee, Craig Perks, Mahal Pearce and Brad Shilton. Also, I was lucky to dabble in few of the coaching schools that were hosted by NZ Golf, so I also have fond memories of the place - held the course record for 1 day before Bradley Iles came home with -7 the next day.

Jayden Baek and Tim Vogel shows off what they're made of

This November two of our members went down to compete in the annual North Island Disability Tournament at Manor Park.

Both players flourishing within their own;

Jayden Baek 3rd in Gross,

Tim Vogel 2nd in Nett.

After the long drive down, even with through the road closures along the North Island two weeks ago, they have performed at the highest level, proving us it there isn't anything to prevent us achieving the goals if we try our hardest.

These two will now be able to enter the EDGA - European Disability Golf Association points system, and receive a world ranking.

Well done you two, both of you deserve all the praises.

Here are some pics / photos from the event.
