Welcome to the Redwood Cut.

In this issue we look back at the events and all the happenings of 2023.

What a crazy year it has been so far, as we are officially into the winter, having recorded a year's amount of rainfall in 5 months.

As all of us know, the biggest event of the summer was the January's Auckland Flood and the Cyclone Gabrielle.

Once again, thanks to all the hard work from Dan and his team to put the coures back in shape.

As you can see from the photos below, it was a feat for him and his team to get the course to where it is now, from the flood and the storm damage.

Also, the volunteering members to come out and helping him out when he had the big fish to tackle.

If you have missed the state of the course, the below are some of the pictures of the the mayhem the greens staff had to deal with.

2023 Inter Collegiate Final Round Strokeplay

Again, this year we had the honour to host the inter collegiate sport strokeplay final round. With the future stars of New Zealand Golf arriving, the weather responded to them as a good gesture.

We had a whopper of a day for the top 3 boys finishing with a 64, 65 and two tied at 68 off the blue tees.

Here are images from the day:

News from Around the World

Lewis Qin

Our young Lewis is currently in the U.S.A. representing the Kiwis in a series of events.

He placed 3rd in the World Stars Junior Championship in Las Vegas 2 weeks ago, which enabled him to get an entry in the IMG World Junior Championship @ Torrey Pines Golf Club.

He joined Redwood 2 years ago, came into the club with my arrival and has really started to see success in his golf begining last year.

He has sent us photos with love to all those who helped him out within the club.

Way to go Lewis!

Phillis Meti

Philis is an old member of our club, who is active on the Long Drive Tour in the U.S.A.

I was told the great news from her that 2 weeks ago she claimed her first 2023 title.

She crushed a 378 yard drive in the finals to capture the WLD La Salle title.

Gabi Powell finishes as runner-up; her best ball in the final round went 350 yards.

Well done Phillis!

Word of Thank you to all of our volunteers

The working bees have been busy, one of them is Stephen Donelly.

He has helped us to clean the slopey walkway to the bottom green and the deck, look how wonderful they turned out.

Thanks you Stephen, and to all the volunteers who put their time and effort to make our club looking tiday and groomed.
